How the journey works
Tartus has no airport of its own. You land at Latakia and drive about 90 minutes south, or at Beirut and come up the coast in around three hours — which for Tartus is often the shorter and cheaper of the two, because it is the nearest Syrian city to the Lebanese border.
The fare
Because Tartus is closest to Beirut, the Lebanese routing is usually the cheapest way home to the coast — and it is the one comparison sites never make for you, because they stop at the airport.
When to travel
A quieter coast than Latakia and a warmer winter than inland Syria. Summer is the family season; spring brings the Syrian coastal countryside at its greenest, and fares at their lowest.
