How the journey works
Beirut is one of the few destinations here with direct flights from Germany, and it doubles as the main gateway into Syria — Damascus is about three hours away, Tartus and Homs closer still. That makes it the route we quote most often as an alternative to a Syrian arrival, and the comparison is frequently decisive.
The fare
Lebanon is one of the three routes we are strongest on. We hold fares with Middle East Airlines and the connecting carriers, and we will always tell you when a Beirut ticket plus the road beats flying into Syria directly.
When to travel
Beirut is pleasant from April to June and September to November, hot and busy in midsummer, and mild in winter with skiing an hour away. The expatriate rush in July and August is what moves the price.

Questions and answers
Are there direct flights from Germany to Beirut?
Yes, on some routes and in some seasons, alongside a wide choice of one-stop fares. We price both, because the direct flight is not automatically the better buy.
How long is the road from Beirut to Damascus?
About three hours in normal conditions, including the border. We can arrange it with the flight so the whole journey is one booking.
